🏀 Newtown Youth Basketball Association: Junior Travel Program🏀

Is your child passionate about basketball and eager to compete with other talented players? The Newtown Youth Basketball Association (NYBA) is the perfect opportunity for girls and boys in 5th through 8th grade to showcase their skills and grow as athletes!

Travel Basketball Teams: Our travel basketball teams play against other teams in Fairfield County, Connecticut, offering a competitive and exciting experience for young athletes. Registration starts in late August and early September, so don't miss out!

Tryouts: All players must attend a tryout, which is conducted by non-biased evaluators who are not familiar with the players. This ensures a fair selection process. Please note that not all children are selected, but those who don't make the travel teams are automatically placed on a rec team.

Teams and Practice Schedules: The number of teams is determined by the number of children who can compete in the league. Practices start in early October and occur 2 to 3 times per week for the first team in each age group. Second and third teams (if they are fielded) will practice once a week and play fewer games, as they are also required to participate in the rec league.

Game Schedules: Games start in December and run through March, with multiple games played each week. In addition to Fairfield County Basketball League games, teams may also enter tournaments throughout the year, depending on coaches and parents' decisions.
